The real risk is not what you see, but what you don’t know

For Brian Zarb Adami, the real challenge is not the lack of technology, but the lack of clarity. The true value of cybersecurity lies in the ability to transform complexity into clear visibility, enabling organisations to understand their real level of risk.

In a world where digital environments are becoming increasingly complex, cybersecurity often remains an “invisible” issue for businesses, even when they have already invested significantly in tools and infrastructure.

Brian Zarb Adami focuses on something deeper: clarity.

He believes that the critical strategic decision organisations must make is not simply about having the right technology, but about understanding what is truly happening by transforming complexity into a clear picture. A picture that allows organisations to continuously know where they stand and how they should move forward.

  1. How did the idea behind CyberSift begin, and what led you into the cybersecurity space?

The starting point was not purely technological. Coming from the pharmaceutical sector and through my professional experience, I was exposed to how sensitive and critical data truly is, especially in environments such as hospitals.

It became very clear to me that protecting information is not a theoretical issue. It directly affects people, operations, decisions and ultimately the future of every organisation.

At the same time, I realised that although the need for cybersecurity was obvious, the approach itself was often overly complex, difficult to understand, inaccessible and largely limited to specialised teams. That created the need for something different.

That is where the idea behind CyberSift started: how can cybersecurity become more understandable, more practical and genuinely accessible? Because if cybersecurity affects everyone, then it should be something that everyone can practically apply, in a way that is clear, effective and adapted to the needs and realities of each organisation.

And that is exactly our vision: to make cybersecurity accessible to everyone, without compromising its essence or effectiveness.

  1.  As an entrepreneur with experience across multiple ventures, what makes CyberSift different for you?

Every business venture has its own value and its own journey. But with CyberSift, there is something deeper behind it. It is not simply another company. It is an effort to build something with real impact, based on a vision that requires time, investment and consistency to become reality.

Cybersecurity is now a sector that affects every organisation, regardless of size or industry. That means the solution cannot be limited or fragmented. At CyberSift, the vision of accessible and meaningful cybersecurity is not theoretical. It translates into real investments, technology development and, most importantly, strategic partnerships.

The strategic partnership with GO plc, the development of the model with Cablenet and the collaboration with ACE Networks in Cyprus, as well as every partnership across the markets where we operate, did not happen by chance. They are part of a conscious effort to build an ecosystem capable of supporting this vision in practice.

  1. What do you believe is the biggest misconception around cybersecurity today?

That security is something you simply “buy”. Many businesses believe that because they have invested in tools or complied with industry standards and regulations, they are fully protected.

But the reality is more complex. Compliance is not the same as protection, and having multiple tools does not necessarily provide the visibility organisations actually need. Very often, what truly happens is the creation of an environment with massive volumes of disconnected data. And that is exactly where the real risks emerge. There is no unified picture, and without that visibility, decisions are made based on incomplete information.

Today, we have more technology than we can effectively manage. The problem is that technology often operates in silos.

  1. How does this translate into the philosophy of CyberSift?

From the beginning, we wanted to achieve something very specific: simplify cybersecurity without reducing its value. In fact, simplification is what creates the value organisations truly need today.

Our approach is based on the idea that security should be understandable,  not only by specialists, but by organisations themselves. Because only then can the right decisions be made.

In practice, this means transforming complex data into clear, actionable intelligence, allowing businesses to gain real visibility into their risk exposure.

  1. In such a competitive market, what differentiates you?

We are not trying to become “just another platform” or simply another cybersecurity company. Instead, we are trying to connect what already exists.

Most solutions today operate independently. That creates complexity and ultimately confusion.

We view cybersecurity as one unified ecosystem where data becomes connected, meaningful and actionable - ultimately creating understanding, and therefore value.

And this is where the concept of collective intelligence comes in: a combination of signals and information that, when connected correctly, reveals the real picture behind an organisation’s vulnerabilities.

  1. How is this philosophy applied in practice through CyberSift’s solutions and services?

At CyberSift, our philosophy is built around unified visibility - connecting exposure, detection and response within a clearer and more practical security ecosystem.

For example, through SENTIO, CyberSift’s SIEM solution, organisations gain real-time threat monitoring, automated anomaly detection and intelligent correlation capabilities, allowing them to identify genuine threats early and with meaningful context behind every alert.

The goal is not to generate more alerts, but to reduce noise and highlight what is truly critical.

Similarly, through Tutela, our vulnerability assessment and exposure management platform, organisations gain continuous visibility into vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, leaked data, phishing infrastructure and other external weaknesses that often remain unnoticed.

At the same time, our solutions are supported by 24/7 SOC monitoring and expert incident response support, ensuring organisations receive not just alerts and data, but real operational support when they need it most.

  1. How has CyberSift evolved so far, and what is its position in the international market?

CyberSift is a Malta-based cybersecurity company with an international presence across markets such as the United Kingdom, Cyprus and Greece, through partnerships and a customer base that extends beyond geographical boundaries.

At the same time, we have a team operating across multiple countries, allowing us to support customers continuously across different time zones and maintain ongoing operational readiness globally.

Over the last few years, we have invested significantly in technology development and in the evolution of our services, with the goal of delivering a more meaningful approach to cybersecurity.

  1. Why is Cyprus an important part of your strategy?

Cyprus is a particularly important market for us, not only because of its strong business activity, but also because it is a dynamic and demanding environment with an increasingly strict regulatory framework.

The presence of international organisations and companies operating across borders creates higher demands both in terms of compliance and security.

At the same time, as digital activity and connectivity continue to increase, so does exposure to cyber risk, with attacks rising steadily worldwide, especially among organisations that lack full visibility into their environments.

This creates a landscape where businesses are not simply looking for more tools, but for solutions that provide clarity, control and the ability to meet market demands without additional complexity.

For us, our presence in Cyprus is part of a broader growth strategy focused on building a model based on trust, collaboration and practical implementation.

Through the partnerships we have developed, we aim to bring cybersecurity closer to the day-to-day reality of businesses, making it more accessible, understandable and practical.

  1. What is the role of GO within the broader CyberSift ecosystem?

Our relationship with GO is strategic and multi-layered. It began in Malta, where GO, as the country’s leading telecommunications provider, chose to invest in CyberSift, recognising cybersecurity as a fundamental pillar of digital growth. Today, this collaboration has evolved into a fully integrated model where connectivity and security work together to deliver more meaningful value to businesses.

For us, GO is a strategic ally that strengthens our ability to develop solutions at greater scale, with consistency and long-term direction.

  1. How is this collaboration model transferred into markets like Cyprus through your partnership with Cablenet?

Our partnership with Cablenet is the natural continuation of the model we have already developed together with GO.

In Malta, connectivity and security are already integrated within one unified framework, allowing businesses to access comprehensive protection through a trusted provider. This model has already proven its value by reducing complexity and simplifying access to cybersecurity services.

The partnership with Cablenet connects connectivity and protection into one unified and practical model.

  1. What does the collaboration with Cablenet represent for you?

This collaboration reflects a broader shift happening across the market. Connectivity and security can no longer be treated separately.

As Cyprus accelerates its digital transformation, business activity grows  but so does exposure to cyber threats.

What we see is that businesses are not simply looking for more solutions. They are looking for solutions that are practical, easy to adopt and do not add unnecessary complexity or operational cost. Through this partnership, cybersecurity becomes embedded directly into services businesses already use, creating a more accessible and seamless experience. Access becomes simpler, both from an adoption and management perspective, without requiring additional complexity or specialised expertise.

Most importantly, protection stops being something distant or difficult to access and becomes part of an ecosystem businesses already trust.

And that is at the core of our strategy: making cybersecurity visible, practical and genuinely accessible for every organisation, regardless of size.

  1. What is GO’s role within this ecosystem?

GO provides the stability and scale required to implement this strategy over the long term.

As a major player in telecommunications and digital infrastructure, GO plays a critical role in shaping a model where connectivity and security operate together to create simpler and more reliable solutions for businesses.

Its presence across both CyberSift and Cablenet creates a unified framework that enables this approach to grow consistently and sustainably.

In markets like Cyprus, this translates into investments built around simplicity, trust and sustainable digital growth.

  1. How is this approach complemented locally through your partnership with ACE Networks?

It is complemented through a second, equally important collaboration model, one that focuses more directly on implementation and day-to-day support for businesses.

ACE Networks, with its strong presence in the ICT services sector, has the experience and technical foundation required to integrate cybersecurity solutions directly into customer environments as part of the broader infrastructure and services it already provides.

Within this framework, our collaboration allows us to support organisations looking for a partner with hands-on technical involvement and ongoing operational support, integrating cybersecurity into their operations in a practical and seamless way.

The collaboration with ACE Networks enhances the value it already provides to customers by extending coverage across their technology needs, enabling flexible and practical implementation of cybersecurity solutions.

  1. What role do partnerships play within your strategy?

Partnerships are a fundamental part of our strategy.

As reflected in the model we have developed, every partnership serves a specific purpose whether at the level of infrastructure and connectivity, or implementation and operational support.

What matters to us is that these partnerships operate together in a complementary way, creating a unified framework where security becomes simpler, more accessible and more meaningful for businesses.

At the end of the day, the goal is not to add more tools or more complexity. The goal is to help organisations gain clarity and move forward with confidence in an environment that is becoming increasingly demanding.

  1.  How do you see the cybersecurity industry evolving over the coming years?

Cybersecurity will undoubtedly become more demanding  not only because cyberattacks are increasing, but also because digital environments themselves are becoming far more complex.

At the same time, however, the industry will move towards greater simplicity.

Organisations cannot manage unlimited complexity, nor can they rely on one-size-fits-all approaches to security. Every environment has its own realities and specific requirements, and when these are ignored, businesses lose the flexibility and meaningful support they actually need.

The need for clarity, visibility and genuine understanding will become even more important. The true value of cybersecurity will no longer be measured by the number of tools an organisation owns, but by the level of understanding it gains  and by how effectively that investment translates into real protection, operational resilience and confident decision-making.
